Empowered for the call pt 3

God equips who He calls, He doesn’t want our complaints and excuses. He wants our obedience! What is He saying to you today? (excerpt from previous post)

Step 1. Availability  Step 2. Obedience  Step 3. Execution/action

Ananias took action (read Acts 9:17) He did exactly what God told him to do.

Pause for a moment and ask yourself the following questions:

What has the Lord called you to do? Are you available? Are you obedient? No matter how uncomfortable or hard the task may be, allow the Holy Spirit to lead and guide you. Remember delayed obedience = disobedience.

Can you image the impact if Ananias decided not see Saul? Saul was saved and given a new name: Paul. He was a preacher, church planter and author!

Remember someone’s life may depend on your obedience TODAY!

You have also been empowered for the call just like Ananias. Stop dodging the process, because its through the process we develop endurance.

A scripture I love is Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Be encouraged and trust God! Stop ducking because you’re right in HIS target!

Be CHIC

Empowered for the call (pt 2)

…Ananias heard the voice of the Lord and was immediately available for the call. The Lord is calling us but are we available (excerpt from previous post)

As we go through the process there are steps that are important. Step one: availability and today step two: obedience

Acts 9:11- Then the Lord told him, “Get up and go to the street called “straight”, and at Judas’ house look for a man from Tarsus named Saul. For he is praying.

GOD gave specific instructions to Ananias: 1) get up 2) go to straight street and 3) at Judas’ house look for a man from Tarsus named Saul.

When God gives us instruction it requires action. We have to be obedient and do what God has told us to do. When I think of the scripture, I imagine that Ananias could’ve been sleeping or just relaxing from a days work, but God told him to get up! There will be times when God speaks and his instruction will force us to change positions, get uncomfortable and go through unknown territory. Now remember, this is the same Saul that persecuted and killed Christians and now God wants Ananias to go and inquire about him! Just in case God forgot, Ananias took a moment to “inform” him (read Acts 9: 13-14) I can picture Ananias saying “God, if I knew that you were gonna tell me to visit Saul, I would’ve never answered!”

LOL

And don’t we do the same thing? “Lord if I knew that people were going to talk about me, If I knew I would lose some of my friends, if I knew I had to work late nights and the list goes on! God equips who he calls, he doesn’t want our complaints or excuses. God’s response to Ananias in verse 15, I know how you feel but go your way and do as I told you. (paraphrase)

He wants your obedience! What is God saying to you today?

Empowered for the call

So let’s just agree that I fell off REALLY HARD from this blog. This was supposed to be my outlet however I got so bogged down with other responsibilities that this blog took a backseat. Nevertheless, I do have a series that I’ve worked on and would like to share part 1 with you. I hope this leaves you encouraged.

A few weeks ago I was asked to give an encouraging word to the church. The topic I was given was “empowered for the call” and the scripture was taken from Acts 9:10-16. I would like to share with you some of the notes I made while studying for this topic. While studying, I realized how much this topic affected me and how much I’ve been dodging the call of God on my life.

When God calls a servant, he equips them and gives them power to complete the mission. We have the power of the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us. At times we can get caught up in speaking on tongues however the Holy Spirit manifests itself in more ways than just speaking in tongues. The Holy Spirit is a comforter and teacher (John 14:26)

When God is equipping/preparing us for the call- HE allows us to go through a process! An item that goes through a rigorous process there is an expectation of longevity for that item. For example think of about gold, diamond, our homes, car or the clothes we wear.

We want the call of Go without going through the process. Truth be told, the process can be scary and painful! But take courage in the fact that everything that God allows is meant to bring us closer to Him and shape us into the vessel that can be used for HIS glory. Don’t neglect the process, it builds strength and longevity.

The first step is your availability. Verse 10 of Acts 9 demonstrates Ananias availability. The Lord called Ananias and he responded “Behold, I am here Lord.”

The Lord is calling me, you, us BUT are we available? Are we doing “things” to occupy our time to avoid responding to the call?

To be empowered for the call we must be available.

Be Chic!
